It was an intriguing race, with key runners resuming at an unfavourable 1000m, and that did leave it open for MORNINGTON GLORY to capitalise. Whilst not having the peak figure near the top tier, his best figure was up the straight at 1000m.

On reflection, more weight should have been put to his set-up to the market leaders, and also taking note he was both more forward in figures this time in and a strong fitness edge being 4UP. I believe he goes up slightly figure wise (peak 103,4, expect 104-105), but this was a very good race for him snag Group 1 glory and I'm expecting marked improvement from those in behind.

The race was run at a "below average" tempo, with neither LADY OF CAMELOT or ESTRIELLA wanting to press MORNINGTON GLORY for the lead. They quickened up through the mid section, and only held that shape through to the finish, with the noteworthy runs coming from HAYASUGI and I WISH I WIN

HAYASUGI backed up very neat lead in work and she is clearly one earmarked going forward. The ability to accelerate and buoy so strongly through the final section, is something that only the top class do. I WISH I WIN recorded a big sustained acceleration score, in fact his biggest figure to date from that perspective, and he in undoubtedly on track for a big figure this spring.
